Two members of
NewJeans girl group
Haerin and
Hyein, have
decided to resume activities under their agency,
ADOR (a subsidiary of
HYBE). ADOR issued a statement saying the two members from the girl group, after discussing with their families and the agency, will abide by their exclusive contracts. The decision comes after a major court ruling from the
Seoul Central District Court on
October 30, 2025, which found that NewJeans’ contracts with ADOR remain valid until
2029. The remaining three members of the NewJeans girl group
Minji,
Hanni and
Danielle have
not made a confirmed decision to return to ADOR. Their status is still in limbo. the members had earlier claimed the contract should be void because of alleged mis management and a breakdown of trust which the court ruled against them.
This outcome is a big win for ADOR/HYBE the ruling upholding the contract gives the agency legal clarity and retains control over two of the most commercially successful members of the group. For the members choosing to return (Haerin & Hyein) may represent a strategic decision to resume their careers (rather than remain stalled) but it may also raise questions among fans about group unity.
For the industry it underscores how rigid contracts in K-pop can be, and how even major acts struggle when contract/trust breakdowns happen.
