6ix9ine Is Headed Back to Jail And His Cellmates Are Making Headlines

Rapper 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, is once again getting ready for life behind bars. The infamous artist is set to report to federal custody on January 6, 2026, where he will complete a three month sentence at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn. But it’s not just his return to jail that has the internet vibrating it’s who he’ll be locked up with.

In a recent video shared on social media, 6ix9ine casually stated that the same facility currently houses Nicolás Maduro, the former president of Venezuela, as well as Luigi Mangione, a suspect awaiting trial in a high profile murder case. The news quickly went viral, crossing the line between hip-hop headlines and global politics.

A Jail With a Presidential Presence

According to 6ix9ine, Nicolás Maduro, who has been charged in the United States with crimes including narcoterrorism and attempting to import cocaine, is being detained at MDC Brooklyn. Maduro has long denied the allegations and continues to claim legitimacy as Venezuela’s leader, making his imprisonment one of the most controversial international cases in recent years.

6ix9ine didn’t turn away from the pointlessness of the situation. In typical fashion, he joked that he was about to meet “the president of Venezuela,” adding laughter to what would otherwise be a serious moment. He even described the inmate lineup to an all star basketball team, making fun at the surreal mix of power, fame, and scandal under one roof.

Another High Profile Inmate

Also reportedly held at the detention center is Luigi Mangione, who is awaiting trial in relation with the 2024 killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione has pleaded not guilty, and his case remains active, adding another level of fame to the already infamous facility.

MDC Brooklyn has a long history for housing some of the world’s most known detainees. Over the years, names like R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, and Sean “Diddy” Combs have all walked through its doors turning the jail into an unusual place of celebrity, crime, and controversy.

6ix9ine’s Unfiltered Reaction

Rather than expressing dread, 6ix9ine addressed the situation with laughter and bravado. Thinking back on previous jail experiences, he recalled telling people he once spent time near the president of Honduras a story that few believed. Now, he seems ready to top it, joking about playing chess, eating ramen noodles, and getting through another headline making stay behind bars.

While the rapper’s legal troubles are nothing new, this latest chapter feels more surreal. Few could have imagined a moment where a hip-hop star, a former head of state, and a notable criminal defendant would all be linked by the same detention center.

As 6ix9ine gets ready to submit himself, one thing is certain: his time at MDC Brooklyn is already setting up to be one of the strangest intersections of pop culture and global politics in recent memory.
